The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is official and there is no shortage of assets. But does it mark a clear evolution compared to Galaxy Note 9? Answer in our comparison.
In recent years, Samsung is enjoying the relative calm of the summer to update the Galaxy Note, its smartphone stylus. This one serves upmarket for the next six months, just to occupy the top of the pavement until the announcement of the update of Galaxy S. Small novelty this year: it is not a Galaxy Note but two that are announced.
Note 10+ is this year’s top-of-the-line figure (do you follow?) And serves as a technological showcase for Korean. As such, it proposes eight major novelties. But is it enough to send the highly successful Note 9 back to oblivion? Review.

Design: the sense of detail
At first glance, the Galaxy Note 10+ does not change much of the Galaxy Note 9 . The newcomer has almost the same dimensions as his predecessor while he embarks a larger screen (6.8 ” against 6.4 ”). The secret ? A very small chin and lack of forehead, the camera is now housed in a punch on the screen. Samsung says that this choice is primarily dictated by a better user experience (cream pie argument if any) and especially a desire for symmetry. Nevertheless, the disappearance of the forehead implies that of the iris reader and the 3D camera. All this is likely to be lacking to some and to a certain extent to make regret the Note 9 .
Samsung’s obsession with symmetry and minimalism now moves the punch from the top right corner of the S10 + up the middle of the screen. Another advantage: the elements of game or video player interfaces are less likely to be rendered inaccessible by the punch. The screen of Note 9 was already remarkable. That of Note 10+ is even more so, the edge-to-edge being pushed a little further. The screen edge impresses: Samsung takes a new course in the integration of the slab and it really feels like seeing only one screen in front.
In order to purify the general design a little, the manufacturer removes a mechanical touch and groups the others on its right border: the better, the inadvertent support on the damn Bixby key (that we could not simply disable on the Note 9) should be fewer. The Bixby key is also used to turn on the power. Unless it is the opposite since it becomes configurable.
No new note without new S-Pen. The stylus of the Galaxy Note 9 impressed you? Then that of the Note 10+ should please you. The S-Pen version 2019 integrates a set of sensors on 6 axes to detect movements, which opens new features. Among them, the remote control of the Note 10+ is the most impressive. Note 9’s S-Pen could already control the smartphone remotely. But Samsung managed to go further: while it is necessary to respect a maximum distance of 8m with the Note 9, the Note 10+ allows a control up to 50m distance on open ground. Who says better
Every year, Samsung submits its new model to an over-powered diet. With the new processor Exynos 9825 and 12 GB of RAM, the Galaxy Note 10+ should without forcing pass the Note 9 (equipped with an Exynos 9810). This is not surprising since the Galaxy S10 + already outperforms Note 9 with the Exynos 9820 chip (also featured in Note 10). This difference in components should especially be sensitive to the level of the processing of still images and animated.
In order to avoid overheating, Samsung has developed a brand new cooling system. The steam chamber used is the thinnest in the world, which has reduced the thickness of almost a millimeter: it is not nothing on such a product!
One UI with sauce Note
Launched in early 2019 with the Galaxy S10, One UI adapts to the style of Galaxy Note, the first smartphone with stylus designed for this interface (Note 9 had benefited from an update, but not a hardware optimization). It has new features related to the use of the S-Pen, with the added bonus of the Samsung Notes application. The Korean says it has optimized artificial intelligence, worked on video processing and developed other features exclusive to Galaxy Note 10+. For example, game booster optimizes the performance of the smartphone during gaming sessions. PlayGalaxy Link (which will not be available at launch in France) promises a gaming experience in streaming.
The screen is Dynamic!
Samsung delivers its Galaxy Note 10+ with a new screen. based on Dynamic AMOLED technology. It promises better contrasts, excellent brightness and more breathtaking colors than ever before. As we explain in our first grip of the Note 10+, its screen is to fall backward. That of Note 9 already flattered the retina and we wondered about the limits of Samsung in this area. Obviously, Samsung Displays has (still) exceeded this year.
Twice as many photosensors
The Galaxy Note 9 was a very good photophone, but not enough to compete with the best in the market ( Huawei Mate 20 Pro , Google Pixel 3). With the Galaxy Note 10+, Samsung shifts from two to four sensors. There are three sensors Galaxy S10 +, namely:
Ultra wide-angle: 16 MP f / 2.2; 123 ° viewing angleWide angle: 12 MP; double f / 1.5 and f / 2.4 aperture; OIS; 77 ° viewing angle, AF Dualpixel with phase detection
Telephoto: 12 MP f / 2.1 OIS viewing angle 45 °
To this trio is added a DepthVision sensor (ToF VGA f / 1.4, 72 ° viewing angle). The whole thing is accompanied by artificial intelligence and many modes of shooting.
Samsung is also attracting videographers since the Note 10+ has new features focused on video.
New charging system
In addition to a larger battery (4300 mAh against 4100 mAh), the Galaxy Note 10+ comes with a new fast-charging system. Samsung promises a day of autonomy in 30 minutes of recharge. On the other hand, no detail for the moment on the time necessary for a complete charge.
The Korean takes the opportunity to launch the Wireless Powershare, its new wireless quick charger like Google Pixel Stand.
Jack is not back!
Some will exclaim “finally! Others will cry scandal. Yes, Samsung says burst for the first time the good old audio jack. The Galaxy Note 10+ must, therefore, take on this responsibility. Can we really stick with the manufacturer, who has taken the leap several years after its competitors and took the time to develop true wireless headphones worthy of the name? The supply of a USB-C to 3.5 mm jack adapter should alleviate some of the sorrow of the irreducible.
In the game of the technical sheet, the Note 10+ wins hands-on Note 9. However, some may regret the disappearance of the audio jack and the iris reader and the appearance of a punch. To be honest, we are not. We believe that the Note 10+ is likely to win the prize for the best stylus smartphone ever produced by Samsung. We will check this as soon as possible with a thorough test.
